Reigning champions Australia once again emerged on top of the podium as they won the VICTOR Oceania Mixed Team Championships 2025 in Auckland today for their seventh straight title.
In their last group match – effectively, the final – Australia secured the first two matches (mixed doubles and men’s singles) in straight games, through Ricky Tang/Gronya Somerville and Jack Yu.
Home player Shaunna Li had her opportunity to turn the tables in women’s singles by winning the second game but Tiffany Ho stood firm in the third as she made it 3-0 for Australia (21-19 18-21 21-15).
New Zealand refused to go down tamely, with Raphael Chris Deloy/Dylan Soedjasa fighting all the way in men’s doubles against Ricky Tang/Jack Yu. The Australians completed a narrow win, 12-21 21-14 21-18, before their compatriots Gronya Somerville/Angela Yu completed the whitewash beating Yanxi Liu/Camellia Zhou 21-5 21-4.
Tahiti made history by winning their first medal as they took home bronze, beating Cook Islands 5-0. Fiji finished fourth and Cook Islands fifth.
